The Winter Olympics were held from February 6 to February 22. This year, they were held in Milan and Cortina, with over 90 countries participating. The opening ceremonies took place on February 6, and they included the parade with all the countries, many performances by dancers and singers, and the light ceremony to officially begin the games! Below will be some of the Olympians and the outcomes of many events.

Johannes Hoesflot, a cross-country skier representing Norway, made history by winning six gold medals in the span of these Olympic Games. Johannes made a new world record because of this. He made history by winning all gold medals in two sprints, two relays, one mass start, and one interval start. It was so cool to see athletes like Johannes really enjoy doing their sport. This was super fun to watch and read the conclusions.

Ilia Malilin - the Quad God - was dominating in the men’s short program. He did poorly after that in his free skate, to end up placing 8th in the men’s figure skating event. Luckily, because he did well in the team event, he still won a gold medal. This was so fun to see him doing his quads! I looked forward to seeing him dominate on the ice. This again was super cool to see the athletes really enjoying their time on the ice.

The USA got a double gold year for the men's and women's hockey. I loved watching this. This is the first gold for the means in 46 years! This was super fun because I really saw the teamwork, and that was really fun to watch. The teammates off the ice were also super supportive. There was some super good cheering going on, which was fun to see. This was super fun to watch and kept me excited to see what’s next.

My favorite event of the Olympics was the women's free skate in figure skating. Alysa Liu from the American team took first place, which made her the first american figure skater to win a gold medal in 24 years! In second and third place came Kaori Sakamoto and Ami Nakai, both from Japan. Overall, every skater did amazing, and it was such a fun event to watch!

Mikaela Shiffrin won the gold for the women's slalom on February 18th. I really liked watching her. When I was watching her, I was also listening to the speakers on TV. I heard that the skiers go at a speed of 60 mph. When I heard this, I was so surprised. This was so cool to see, and I was so scared one of the skiers would break a bone. Luckily, they did not. Mikaela Shiffrin was so good and definitely deserved the gold.

Swedish Nordic skier Frida Karlsson ended the season with two gold medals. She raced two ten-kilometer races, one mass start, and one relay. She was one of the youngest skiers competing. Watching her was so cool; she made going up hills look easy. It was so amazing watching her ski and show the world who she is. Considering that this is her first Olympics. What a fun way to watch a rising star form!

In conclusion, the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina 2026 had a great turnout, and every athlete looked great! These Olympic Games were memorable and super fun to watch. What was your favorite event to watch in the Olympics?
