Wicked Movie Review

Popular. This movie is popular. On Thanksgiving Week, people across the U.S. defied the gravity of their cozy homes and took a trip to their local movie theater to spend time with Elphaba and Glinda. At the time of writing this review, the movie had already made 332 million dollars. A lot of hype surrounded Wicked: Part I, that’s why I was so excited to see it.
I thought that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Ervio effectively brought these characters to life, with their powerful voices and exceptional acting. Going into the movie I thought it wouldn’t be as good as the play because it was only Part 1, but I was pleasantly surprised. I think the two different parts will leave fans waiting and excited for more.
Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel both had cameos in the movie as the sorcerers in the Emerald City. I loved how they added this part because it adds a little throwback to the play. If you haven’t already seen this movie, I would recommend trying to defy gravity away from your homes to see this popular movie.
