What Will Happen to Highcroft When We Are Gone

We all know that Highcroft is closing. We all know that the two campuses are combining. But have we thought about the details? What about the things that make Highcroft special? Here are some things that might change when we move:
Bears Club
You might not know this, but the Bears Club is only at Highcroft. Back when Blake was founded, scouts were considered a “country kid thing,” so schools in the city didn’t do it. It is likely that Bears Club will be continued at the new campus. It would require a lot of work from the parent association, as they organize bears. If that doesn’t happen, though, Bears Club could be lost forever. According to Sara Cotton, a leader of Bears, the big events like the derby might continue but the smaller ones may not.
The Cuckoo Clock
The Cuckoo Clock is not coming to the other campus. The Montessori school might keep it, but it is probably going to be gone forever. The new campus might get something like the cuckoo clock. Another parent might come to the school and build something in the ELC or another part of the building. Watch it while you can.
Grandfriends Day, Pumpkin Party, & Winterfest
All the big, Parent Association run parties will continue, as the other campus does them too. They won’t change that much, except they might feel different to you because it’s in a different space.
The 5th Grade Play
The 5th Grade play, and theatre, will most likely stay the same. 5th graders won’t have to get bussed to the Blake Campus anymore to practice the play, though. You might miss the theatre room, as the one at Hopkins is made like a green room, not a theatre room.
That is what will happen to some of the most important Highcroft things. Not all of this article is for certain, as Blake & the Parent Association has not fully decided what to do. Most things at Highcroft will continue at Blake. Whatever happens, we will all miss Highcroft dearly.
