From April 22 to 25, 8th graders traveled to Washington D.C. to culminate what they had learned in social studies this year. Before the trip, they had zoom meetings with former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, Senator Tina Smith, and Representative Ilhan Omar. While in D.C., they met with staff members from the offices of Representative Pete Stauber and Representative Tom Emmer.
Students visited monuments, government landmarks, and museums.
The trip was organized by Ms. Raina Green and the Close Up Foundation.
