The Timberwolves are one of the most intriguing and one of the most talked about teams in the NBA right now. Part of it is about Anthony Edwards, part of it is about Jaden McDaniels, and part of it is about how good they are in the preseason. But just as the season is starting, let's get a quick runthrough about the start of the Timberwolves season.

Anthony Edwards will become a superstar this season. He is the most hyped up player in the NBA before this season starts, and the leap to superstardom this season is basically inevitable. With how he played on the national team for USA in the offseason, he will also most likely play on the USA Olympic team next year. Most NBA fans know that he is ready to take the league by storm and crush all expectations. He may single handedly carry the Timberwolves to 50 wins this season for the first time in 20 years. He is on the verge of superstardom and will hopefully make his first All-NBA team this year.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert should work this year. Last year they had little to no success with each other at all, and part of that was that they didn’t have much time to work with each other due to injuries, plus limited time to work with each other. But the other part is that they just weren’t good together and they didn’t work well when on the court together. They should figure it out this year though. Part of it is on coaching with coach Chris Finch setting the wrong people to do each thing. At this point they should figure out how to play together well after over a year with each other.

Jaden McDaniels will hopefully take that next step. Right now Jaden is the definition of a 3 and D player. But if you really watch his game you can see that he can take that next step as a scorer. His defense is already incredible, and so is his offensive efficiency. But he just doesn’t get as big of an offensive role as he should get. Part of that is he doesn’t take as many shots as he should, but also part of that is on coaching and the rest of the team. He doesn’t get passed too much for a player that can do as much as he can on offense. If the Timberwolves incorporate Jaden in the offense a little more than they do now, the Timberwolves could be a threat on offense.

The Timberwolves unit will be good this year. Headlined by Naz Reid this unit is a threat on offense and can lock teams up on defense. Jordan McLaughlin is looking stellar from three in the wolves first 5 preseason games. Plus the same thing with Nickeil Alexander-Walker except he provides incredible defensive work too. The Timberwolves’ bench unit as a whole can score like the starters and is a great defensive bench unit. New additions from the offseason like Troy Brown Jr. and Shake Milton will also provide use for this bench unit.

Can the starters live up to expectations? This is the main instance of why Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert need to work together. When Rudy is on the court but Karl isn’t, they have the best defense in the NBA. When Karl is on the court and Rudy isn’t, they have the best offense in the NBA. If we can figure out a way to combine these when they are both on the court, the Timberwolves could have the best starters in the NBA.
