The Winter Musical this year is going to be Spongebob. It will be performed on February 23 & 24. Although many people would rather the Musical be something different, most people are still excited. “I wish it was a different show, but it was actually a Broadway musical! It's just a fun show with a lot of jokes. With all of the students and adults involved, I think it is going to be a great show,” said Catherine Rudolph, who was in the fall play. Many students would have wanted the musical to be The Wizard of Oz, but most are fine with Spongebob.

Mr. Geissler, the director of the Winter Musical says “Despite the perhaps silly reputation of the source material, The Spongebob Musical is a delightful show about the power of community, friendship, and courage. I didn't know anything about the show before seeing it on Broadway in 2016, and when I did it blew my mind. The musical is a celebration of theatrical innovation and will give cast and crew members LOTS of great opportunity to explore character, theatrical design, and a diverse range of music and dance styles.” Did you know that every song in The Spongebob Musical is written by a different famous songwriter? In the show audiences will hear pop, rock, country, rap, and even techno!”

Mr. Geissler picked the musical last April, after he discussed it with his collaborators, “(like Camryn, my friend and choreographer) and supervisors, Ms. Ferguson and Dr. Raleigh. A lot of people have to be on board with a title before I choose it for the school to produce.” Mr. Geissler says.

“Even though it wasn't my first choice, Spongebob is going to be really fun to perform. It's going to be very entertaining and I'm looking forward to it!” said Ben Passi, who was the assistant director for the fall play.

“I am extremely excited, this musical will have amazing choreography. I can't wait to (Hopefully) be in the musical,” said Rowan Lorenz, who acted in the fall play, “I hope as many people as possible come and do the musical, not just for the fun of it, even though it will be Fun and this may sound cringy, but also because it will be an amazing experience, and a chance to meet new amazing people.”
