The Last Highcroft 5th Grade Closing is Happening

On the last day of school, Tuesday, June 6, the whole school will gather to celebrate us going into middle school.

The event will start with the singing of the Blake Alma Mater. This will be the first time the Alma Mater with the new verse is sung. It will then go into the speeches that Ms. Wal and Dr. G will give. After that, we sit and watch a 15-minute video with pictures of us in younger grades. Once that is finished, we go through a line of all the teachers to get our diplomas. All the grades will sing the Goodbye song, but nobody will hear it over the clapping. There will be songs sung in between all of it, some just 5th grade sings, and some the whole school sings.

The ceremony is not just a one-hour concert though. It has taken a lot of careful planning to get right.

At the beginning of the year, your parents received an email asking them if they would like to volunteer at Blake. These included many things, such as running a Bears club or organizing a teacher luncheon. But, there were some jobs like volunteering to make the video or the after-graduation party.

Before this, on Monday, the last full day of school, there is a whole other celebration. A giant maze built by Adventures in Cardboard will be set up on the ice rink. Also, Ben & Jerry’s will come and set up a cart. During this whole week, there will be a clothing theme. Wait for it.
