What is the house council and what does it do?

Isaiah: House council is a group of twelve students, three from each house. We meet every Thursday and help create and plan school events like the dances. We also give feedback to Ms. Ferguson and Ms. Lewis when there is an issue the students feel like they should share.

Nora: The house council is a group of 8th graders who give a student perspective on improving the middle school.

Ben: House Council is just a group that takes student representatives to share views on life at school. The purpose of the House Council is to offer student representation in our school system.

Will: House council members are the leaders of the middle school. We help plan different events and lead tours.

Clare: The house council is a way for students to give input on themes and events at school, with the aim to create a strong school community.

What is your favorite part of the house council?

Will: The drinks and the leadership role.

Ben: My favorite part of House Council is probably the ability to collaborate with different people on ideas for our school.

Clare: My favorite part of the house council is how it allows students to directly give feedback on issues and events at school. It's so nice that students get to have a say in things that go on at school and how their thoughts and opinions are actually thought about and implemented into the school community.

Isaiah: My favorite part of House Council is making decisions for the school because it's cool to see that students get a say in some of the stuff that happens at school.

Nora: My favorite part of House Council is to get ideas for upcoming events!

Why is your house the best?

Clare: Courage House is the best because we always show up on house spirit days and during house events to cheer on other people in our house!

Nora: Curiosity House is the best because it has the cutest animal.

Ben: I don't think that any house is more important than another because I think they all rely on themselves. However, I think one of the things that makes Curiosity so important is that it is what we rely on to learn and grow. Curiosity is the foundation of learning.

Isaiah: My house, integrity, is the best house because it has the best motto, and in my opinion, doing the right thing when nobody is watching is the most important out of the other houses.

Will: I'm not sure, maybe because I'm in it.

Isaiah: One thing I would like to add is that House Council is a fun and new experience, so 6th and 7th graders should apply for it in the future.
