Technology Destroys Students

Because of the 2019 Coronavirus, lower school students are given more technology in school. And because of online learning, most of the school curriculum is based on technology. Now, teachers are using the convenience of technology to post things for their students to do. Because of it, students are exposed to a great deal of technology.
Students get addicted to technology
Mrs. Molly Hales, a fourth-grade teacher at Highcroft says “It makes me kind of sad that kids can become addicted to it, but it’s very easy to use,”
The idea that kids can become addicted to technology is very true in Mrs. Hales’s class and also around most of the school. In her class, most of the students use their laptops at every free moment they can. Even with Mrs. Hales asking that they not spend the whole time on screens, because it is not a rule, everybody was on their computers. Even though most of the websites are school-approved, there are still a good amount of non-approved websites that students visit. According to a test done in 2021 for Mrs. Hales class, students average 4 hours per weekday. They do a variety of different activities on screens though.
Interacting Online
Thad, a fourth-grade student says “I think it’s a good thing that students have computers because you can do things that you can’t do in the classroom like if you wanted to interact with a kid in the other class and you weren’t allowed to go to the other class, you could interact with them online.”
In the 21st century, game developers and entrepreneurs have realized that kids like to be with their friends. And what better way to make money than to have kids interacting and chatting with friends online. A lot of websites (both websites meant for educational purposes and those not) have an option to play and chat with friends (or any person in the whole world). Chat messaging systems in games can make students say things they wouldn’t say in person. This can cause students to feel uneasy, especially students under third grade.
In conclusion, technology is influencing students, making them addicted to screens and giving them too much freedom to say what they want online. Most of this is because of covid-19. Who knows if once covid becomes endemic, school will go back to normal. Maby technology will be so efficient schools will have more of it. Either way, technology will still be there, and still have the same problems. And it’s up to you to solve.
