NFL: Overreactions or Real

This NFL season might be the craziest season ever. At the time of my writing this, these are some of the craziest records yet. The Vikings are 5-0. Patrick Mahomes looks bad but the Chiefs are still 5-0. The 49ers are 2-3. The Commanders are 4-1. I can go on and on. But in this article, we will see if these starts are real or fake.
1. Nico Collins is a top 5 receiver in the NFL.
Nico Collins just got sent to the IR, but through 5 games, he has 567 receiving yards. Through week 5, Nico Collins is leading the NFL in receiving yards… by 70+ yards. This is a legendary start to the season. Last year, Collins racked up an impressive 1,297 receiving yards. This year, he was on pace to have 1,928 yards. That would have been the 3rd best all-time in a single season. Yes, he has CJ Stroud throwing him the ball. But this is still unprecedented. He looks unstoppable and might be the best deep threat in the NFL right now. No defense can stop him. In his past 21 games, he has 1,948 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. This might be a hot take, but I’m saying it's real.
2. Patrick Mahomes isn’t a top-tier quarterback.
Let me set the record straight. Mahomes has not been his regular self this season. Or anywhere close to it. Through 5 games, Mahomes has thrown 6 interceptions, and 1 every single game. He is tied for the league lead in interceptions thrown. 6 touchdowns is also subpar through 5 games, for his standards. But we can’t forget how clutch he is. He has found a way to win the Chiefs all of their games this season. Though it might not all be because of him (refs), he has done what you need him to do. He also won a Superbowl just last season… and the year before. We have learned better than to doubt Mahomes. Fake.
3. Derrick Henry is the best running back in the NFL.
Why is he so good? He is 30 and is playing as well as he was at 26 (2,000 rush yards). Prime Derrick Henry is back. Or is he? Henry is leading the NFL in rushing, with 572 yards. He also has 6 rush touchdowns, 1 receiving. In 5 games. Insanity. He is a terrifying sight to see and is single-handedly making the Ravens one of the best teams in the NFL. He might not only be the best running back in the NFL, but he might be the best player in the NFL. Real.
