Will a student have to take over?
Late last school year, Blake announced that Chris Torino would be taking over for Dr. Anne Staveny as the new Head of School. He was to take over as of July 1, 2026, but as of March 14, the School has been informed that due to personal reasons, he will not join until July 1, 2027. After many board and staff meetings, the school has come to the conclusion that a student will take over for the 2026-2027 school year.
The school announced this along with guidelines for who can be elected. They want no one younger than, 5th grade and no one older than, 10th grade. The school wanted someone who could understand the needs of every student in every grade… someone in the middle… IN MIDDLE SCHOOL!
Teachers will elect the student based on anonymous surveys from other students, along with their own opinions. Once the student is elected, they will be able to appoint another student to assume the role of Assistant Head of School. There will be no restrictions on the abilities of either the Head of School or Assistant Head of School, only a faculty adviser to take on the role of their teacher for the year.
If you are interested in being considered for this role, a form will be sent out in the coming months… Happy April Fools day!
