Memories from Teachers: Mrs. Krig

Mr. Paterakis

Chaperoning the Wolf Trip many years ago. It was a particularly snowy winter in N. MN and we took the kids snowshoeing. Somewhere in the forest and on the walking path two students sat down to rest or tighten their straps. They sat (and then fell into a 6' foot drift of snow. Ms Krig and I were directly behind them and as we rushed to help them get back to their feet we couldn't stop laughing...we (kids , too!) all were brought to tears by the "happy accident" and I think Ms. Krig was laughing the loudest. I can still see her joy in being outside, in the cold woods and with kids and friends. You will be missed, my friend.

I can honestly say Mrs. Krig has become one of my closest colleagues in my three years here. She is always willing to assist, whether that means showing me how to use Canva to make awards for Knowledge Bowl, explaining the quirky complications of Canvas, or just being an engaging conversationalist, she is the ideal colleague whose shoes will be impossible to fill. I always enjoyed watching her robotics teams in action, as well as attending the presentations her students made about the creative playgrounds. In addition, it's so awesome that she is a fellow BWCA camper like myself, and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing anecdotes about one of the most incredible places on earth.

The impact that Ms. Krig has had on her students, whether in her Advisory, in the Science classroom, in the Makerspace or on the MS Robotics team, will reverberate long after she has retired. She has made a difference in the lives of countless students and that is a legacy she can feel proud of.

Ms. Walters

If a scientist is someone who tries to explore and understand the world around them, Maelene Krig is a true scientist. She is curious and courageous, and she perseveres through setbacks and "experiments" that might not go as expected.
