LGBTQ+ Terms and What They Mean

Hello! It’s Mila here. Today, I’m going to be teaching you 15 different LGBTQ+ terms and what they mean, starting with the basics. Let’s dive in!

● Gay/Homosexual: Having an attraction to the same gender, you can use this term no matter what your gender.

● Lesbian: Having an attraction to the same gender, but some girls who like girls can use this term.

● Bisexual: Having an attraction to multiple genders, but not necessarily all.

● Pansexual: Having an attraction to anybody, no matter the gender.

● Omnisexual: Having an attraction to anybody, but having sort of a preference. Ex. “I like everybody, but I prefer girls.”

● Asexual: Not having any sexual attraction at all.

● Aromantic: Like asexual, but with romantic attraction.

● Polysexual: Having an attraction to more than one gender

● Cisgender: Having a gender identity that corresponds with the sex given at birth.

● Transgender: Having a gender identity that doesn’t correspond with the sex given at birth.

● Nonbinary: Having a gender identity that does not conform to traditional binary beliefs about gender

● Genderfluid: Having a gender identity that changes over time

● Bigender: Having a gender identity that encompasses two genders.

● Agender: Not identifying as having a gender.

● Intersex: A term used for any situation in which somebody is born with anatomy that doesn't fit the boxes of “female” or “male.”
