Legacy: A Dr. Stavney Musical

Early this year, I was playing around on the piano, trying to develop an idea I had. It was a small idea, an idea I knew would never happen: a musical to celebrate Dr. Stavney, now that she's leaving Blake, called Legacy: The Stavney Era.

I wrote one song for fun. Then, I decided to write another. And then another. By the middle of the school year, Legacy: The Stavney Era was mostly done.

The musical tells the story of Blake during the “Stavney Era,” from 2011 to 2026, with songs about major events, like Covid-19 and the sale of Highcroft.

The musical will be performed on May 29th and 30th by a cast of several middle school students in the Blackbox Theater at the Upper School.

It has been an incredible experience developing the musical, working with cast members, and celebrating Dr. Stavney
