Julia Marino, with a score of 87.68, managed to get Olympic silver on Feb 5, 2022. With Marino’s achievement, team U.S.A now has their first medal this year. You might ask why Julia’s feat was so great. Well, that’s because Marino fell on her first run and her last run in Beijing, China. She was depending entirely on her second run.

Marino’s score kept her in first place until Zoi Sadowski-Synnott entered the picture. Sadowski-Synnott’s third run, the last run of the day, went perfectly. She nailed all her jumps, not falling once. Even before she got her score from the judges, Sadowski-Synnott knew she would win, becoming the first person from New Zealand to win a gold medal. Once Zoi crossed the finish line, Julia Marino and Tess Coady, the bronze medalist from Australia, ran over and hugged her so hard she fell on the ground.

“I'm feeling so many emotions. Right now it's pure excitement and happiness. It was a great day," Marino later said."The weather was perfect. The course was perfect. The girls were riding well. I couldn't have asked for a better final. It's exactly what it should be like."
