2022 U.S. Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin (26) is out of the running when she fell in her first of two runs in the women's giant slalom and got disqualified in Beijing. After about eleven seconds she faltered and couldn’t control the edges of her skies and sped over a turn, causing her to fall. Luckily, no one was hurt in the process.

After being a two-time Olympic gold medalist, she noted: "I have been working on the right timing of my turns and never thought this was going to be part of the issue," She notes. “There’s a disappointment for sure.” According to NPR news, they state that the queen of slopes has not been disqualified in four years.

Mikaela Shiffrin was not the only one who fell skiing. Beijing, where the Olympics are being held this year, does not get a lot of precipitation around the area, and all the snow is 100% man-made. Skiers including Nina O Brien, and Teal Harle of Canada both came crashing down the slope. Unfortunately, Nina O Brien had to undergo surgery after multiple leg fractures. Hopefully, the next Olympic games location will get more precipitation.
