Track & Field
“A challenge is keeping up my endurance if I can't go to a couple practices,” -Julian Racciatti
“What I mostly enjoy is seeing kids improve and get better each time,” -Ms. Souvignier
“We have about 36 kids out between seventh and eighth grade, and they’re all really dedicated and work hard. When they’re there, they’re putting in great effort and it’s been a good comradery. They all support each other, which is fun to see,” -Ms. Souvignier
Girls Softball
“My favorite part about being on the Blake Softball team is probably the community. I am getting to know people that I otherwise probably wouldn't have met and I am glad that I can spend time with friends while doing a sport I love. Practices are usually working on defense and plays. Sometimes we'll do some hitting work, but we are trying to get our defense better right now. Games are super fun; even if we lose, everyone is cheering and has a good attitude. I'm excited for the rest of this season!” -Lilah Mairose
Bears Lacrosse
“I’ve…learned a lot as goalie. We have our own goalie coach at Blake, so I’ve learned a lot of new technique stuff. I’ve…really grown as a lacrosse player in different areas.”
“It’s been a really fun season so far, and I [hope] it will continue to be great.” -Leo Shoemaker
“The JV season was canceled, so it’s made it harder for us to get playing time and games for the middle school lacrosse players.” -Leo Shoemaker
Synchronized Swimming
“[The practices are] all really fun, but we work A LOT.” -Ada Friedman
“My favorite part of the Synchronized swimming team is how welcoming and friendly the community is. On my very first day, I was so nervous because everyone else was so good. But now I am friends with so many people that I would have never had the chance to be friends with if I didn't join.” -Sacha Newberry
“The thing about synchronized swimming is that it could be one of the biggest commitments you can make during the school year. Before a schedule change, there is usually 19 hours a week of practice, but it makes the bond between teammates so much stronger.” -Sacha Newberry
Bears Baseball
“[My favorite part about being on the team is] getting to know kids from other grades, and high schoolers too.” -Liam Foudy
“Playing JV is a step up and you've got to be 100%, 100% of the time which can be a challenge at certain times.” -Will Venable
“When you're around these guys you want to be just like them and do it well and I think that is a great thing to learn from because they are older and can set a good example (most of the time).” -Will Venable
