Cross Country

“Some days we have workouts, easy runs, or long runs. And then some days we have the races.” - Alex Patterson, 7th Grade

“It’s challenging for beginners, but once you start getting into it, it can start becoming a routine and it can start becoming easier. [My favorite part] is doing the races even though that’s the hardest part of it, because I feel like I just accomplished something big.” -Alex Patterson

Tennis

“I initially did dive, but I quit because my hair was getting too damaged, and I didn’t want to wake up at 5:30 and overall it was just too much of a commitment for me.” - Elise Matney, 7th Grade

“And then I went to the first [tennis] game in the first match, and overall it’s a really chill vibe and it’s really fun. Every Wednesday we play matches and those are really fun because we do singles and doubles.” -Elise Matney

Volleyball

“Volleyball is really fun and everyone should try it.” -Savvy Sinchef, 7th Grade

“We practice with the Upper School team. The Upper School Team has a C-team, JV, and a Varsity team. We practice from about 3:55 to 5:00 in the afternoon. There are 9 players on the middle school team and there are other middle school players playing up this year.” - Mr. Xiong, coach

“We do a lot of passing drills and a lot of serving drills because in middle school volleyball, serving is the key to winning the game. So [we make] sure everyone can hit their serves over the net and into court.” -Mr. Xiong

“The 8th grade leaders on the middle school team are great. Maddie Ferguson, Sacha, Carolyn, Al. They do a great job communicating on the court when they’re playing with their peers.” -Mr. Xiong

Boys Soccer

Girls Soccer

“Soccer’s really fun. [...] We compete and whoever wins gets gift cards and stuff like that. The coach is nice. And, it’s really fun.” - Bea Brown, 7th Grade

“[Our coach] deserves some praise leading us through the games. It’s the best sport out there.” - Fionna Sengita, 7th Grade

Football

“It’s hard work but it’s a lot of fun to play the game with your teammates and get closer as a group” - Chase Florida, 7th Grade

Swimming and Diving

"This past season was my first on the Blake Girls Swim and Dive (BGSD) team. Although some days were tough and I didn't always perform the best, being a part of a school team was an amazing experience. During my time on the team I was able to interact and get to know people a lot better. I also met people I wouldn't have met otherwise. Another thing that made being a part of BGSD incredibly fun, was competing against other schools. In the midst of a competitive environment, I along with many of my teammates were able to make friends with people from other schools. Being a part of BGSD has been an unforgettable experience and I hope to be a part of it again in the future." -Sudiksha Sharath, 7th Grade
