After doing well at the MN First Lego League State Tournament on Sunday 2/18, the Better Blake Bots robotics team advanced to Nationals. During the State Tournament, the team, Olly Bower, Katie Gammack, Sam Carlson, Lena Varela, and Lily Guerrera, were finalists for the Innovation Project and got the 3rd place Champions Award. The robotics team will go to the Western Edge Open national tournament in Long Beach, California, which will take place from May 31st to June 2nd.
“I'm very excited about how far our team has come, and I'm really happy and proud of us,” says Katie Gammack, a member of the team. Another team member, Olly Bower, hopes, “that we can make an actual prototype for our innovation project, the carve-all, for nationals and … hopefully [do] pretty well at nationals.” Both Bower and Gammack think the team has worked well together. “We’ve had some minor disagreements but we’ve worked through them really well,” Bower says.
