Dear Phoebe,
Sometimes I feel sad for no reason, and when I’m sad I don’t want to talk to anyone. I don’t want people to think I’m being over-dramatic, but I also don’t want to pretend to be happy. What should I do?

Well, if I ever feel sad for no reason, talking with a trusted adult about it usually helps. Although, if you really don’t know the reason and you don’t feel like talking about it, I suggest crying it out. Crying can actually make you feel better. Exercising does the same thing as crying, releases endorphins, so exercising can be good too. As for your friends, it’s valid to want to not talk to people when you’re sad, but if they think you’re being over-dramatic, you could explain to them what’s happening, or you could just ignore them. But most of all, you should never pretend to be someone else. Never pretend to be happy when you’re really not. Because it’s our emotions that make us human. I hope this helped you and anyone else who ever feels this way. Thank you for reading everyone!
