2025 Trends

In the age of instant-access social media, trends spread faster than ever, so, of course, 2025 was no exception. Some trends explode overnight and vanish just as quickly, while others manage to stick around for months, or even, if they’re really special, become an unforgettable part of internet culture. So, after asking Blake Middle School students about some of this year’s most popular trends, the Blake Bear Bugle gives you the 2025 trend recap.
One of this year's earliest trends is Italian brainrot. This trend features bizarre, AI-generated images of mostly food and animals combined with other objects and topped off with absurd names. To make it even bigger, a Roblox game based on the characters launched this trend into full chaos. One student wrote, “Italian Brainrot is really funny, the point of it is just for fun and to develop a new generation of slang,” which is an interesting take regarding the amount of slang our generation already has.
Not everyone was won over by this trend, with students responding, “Too old and out of trend” and “I don't like it... It was funny at first, but now it's just annoying,” making it apparent that this is a trend that died just as quickly as it started.
Another trend that quickly rose to fame was Labubus. If you’re unfamiliar, Labubus are collectible plush toys that are infamously expensive and difficult to get. As one student put it, “terrible investment of money, but I wish I had one”. Beyond their price, Labubus sparked major debate over their looks. One responder said, “I think they are overrated and ugly,” while another argued, “They are cute and good for investment.” However, most Blake Middle Schoolers seem to lean towards creepy, using words like ugly, scary, and demonic frequently when describing them. One student predicted their downfall by saying, “They will die off in a month, or less. No point.”
In conclusion, it seems that Labubus only caught people’s attention because they were controversial.
Finally, we face a trend that seems to be harmless, just two numbers adjacent to each other. Nevertheless, the trend of 67 took the social media world by storm in late February. 67 originated from a song, and since then, it’s been used to compare, contrast, and everything in between. The opinions were split, with comments saying things like, “I think it's annoying,” and “it's funny but only at the right moments and the right people.” Even as people are growing tired of it, there is no denying that the 67 trend dominated conversations, group chats, and comment sections, making it the biggest trend of 2025.
From chaotic AI images to creepy plush toys and oddly powerful numbers, 2025 proved that trends don’t have to make sense to take over the internet. Whether loved, hated, or quickly forgotten, each trend left its mark. As social media keeps moving at a lightning pace, one thing is certain: 2026 trends are already waiting to take over our feeds.
